Spring Has Sprung in NC...

... and my dog, Kaya, couldn't be happier!!

It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

I Want to Live Here...

...In this one room. It’d be great if there were other rooms as well. but i’d really like to sit in this room every sunday morning and drink coffee and do nothing else.

I'd Call It, The Coffee/Tea Room.

Milk Glass!

I love a vintage milk glass vase! I have one that my grandmother gave to me one day while I was visiting. (I'm lucky enough to have a generous GM with good taste!)

Milk glass vases can be found at most flea markets and antique stores for a reasonable price... and they never go out of style *bonus*

Bright flowers in a white vase makes my soul sing!

For The Knitter (or wanna be knitter) in All of Us

I tried to crochet once. It didn't really go all that well. I'm sure I'll give it another go one of these days.

The Bird Cage Obsession

So like everyone else, I have to have a birdcage in my life.

While searching around on the internet, i saw these lamps and thought... I can make that!

Seeing as how I already had a string of cafe lights that were not being used... I went with the one on the right. (plus it looks just a taaaaad bit easier to make).

A friend of mine just so happened to have a birdcage she wanted to get rid of *gasp... who would do such a thing* for free!

I decided to make my lamp more of a floor lamp. I had an old pedestal table sitting around that I couldn't find a use for. So, I put the cage on the table (which just so happened to be the perfect size) and gave it a good coat of vibrant purple spray paint.

I placed it in the hallway beneath my FOR LIKE EVER print (who doesn't have one of those by now). And I have to say... I think I did a pretty good job!!

REAL Vintage Decor

Everyone can appreciate a good vintage find. I suggest, instead of going out to buy some mass produced art work, dig through you family photos.

I found these of my grandparents from 1957!!

The were taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway right here in the North Carolina mountains. My grandparents were at the ripe old age of 23.

I'll be hitting up the local flea markets and yard sales for the perfect frames.

*TIP* When looking for used frames, pay attention more to the detail and not the color. You can always buy a gold ornate frame and green plain jane frame and spray paint them the same color for a cohesive look.

How much do we love the photo above?? Days like this make life worth living. ;)
