Vintage Sofette!!!

I fell in love with this vintage inspired sofette from Anthropologie.

But... I'm a firm believer that if it's "vintage inspired" odds are, there is an actual vintage piece out there that is probably just as good, if not better.

And... I bet it can be purchased for much less than $2,900.00 (which was the asking price on this lovely piece of furniture).

Believe and you shall receive!!!!

I found this lovely little lady at my favorite Raleigh antique store ::FATHER AND SON::!

and guess how much???!!!!

ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY BUCKS!!!!!!!

Gotta love vintage!!!! GOT TO!

Digital Scrapbooking??

Oh yes, it does exist! I don't have the first clue as to how to create a digital scrapbook page. But my sister happens to be quite great at it.

Here's a page she did for her daughters book.

Check her out if you haven't already. ::WILD BLUEBERRY INK::

Matilou!

I stumbled upon this etsy artist and just had to share!!

Anne Cresci is a graphic illustrator from Lyon, France. Her illustrations are adorable... and digital!! So once you purchase them, you have them immediately.

Some of her prints are also available on jewelry... like this locket that I MUST own!!

Random Art

Spotted this curious little collage in one of my favorite coffee shops! I rushed right over to buy it... tag read "not for sale". Now that's a bummer.

I know how much we all love that popular chain the the green circle and the appropriate little siren that seduces us into buying more and more and more of their coffee... but lets do our best to support our local mom and pop coffee shops. They really need our help right now. The only one in my home town just closed it's doors :(

The piece of art above was spotted at ::The Coffee Mill:: located in downtown Clayton, NC. Their milkyway is sinfully delicious!

So Necessary!

A porch swing in my bedroom... YES, PLEASE!

I first saw the idea of and indoor porch swing about six years ago at a warehouse turned reception hall in Asheville, NC.

My parents have this very swing on the porch of their country home... no way they'd let me have it.

Lucky... these swing can be found at most flea markets. My favorite FM has one now for $60... that's do-able. No to just find a bedroom big enough for a bed, a cant-live-without vintage chest, a can't-live-without vintage dresser, and a porch swing.

Back in the day, my sister and i had a gift shop. We only sold hand-made items... think ETSY in physical store front form. She got a promotion and I had a baby... and that was that.

One of our artists was ::Jill Bliss::. I lover her work. love love love it! I just stumbled upon some photos from her “Gathered Together” opening with artist Saelee Oh at ::Tinlark Gallery::.

She’s still creating amazing stuff… and did i mention… I love her!

A New Kind of Skin Care!

With a degree in esthetics, I can appreciate some one trying to change what we know about skin care.

They're catchphrase is "redefining bad". They're line is feisty yet fragrant. No harsh dyes or irritating fillers... and they tell you like it is.

Not to mention, the packaging is hella amazing!! You're not sure if you should use it or just look at it.

Go on over to ::www.VILLAINESS.net:: and fall in love!

Oh yeah... and even better... all their products are cruelty free!!!

Spring Has Sprung in NC...

... and my dog, Kaya, couldn't be happier!!

It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

I Want to Live Here...

...In this one room. It’d be great if there were other rooms as well. but i’d really like to sit in this room every sunday morning and drink coffee and do nothing else.

I'd Call It, The Coffee/Tea Room.

Milk Glass!

I love a vintage milk glass vase! I have one that my grandmother gave to me one day while I was visiting. (I'm lucky enough to have a generous GM with good taste!)

Milk glass vases can be found at most flea markets and antique stores for a reasonable price... and they never go out of style *bonus*

Bright flowers in a white vase makes my soul sing!

For The Knitter (or wanna be knitter) in All of Us

I tried to crochet once. It didn't really go all that well. I'm sure I'll give it another go one of these days.

The Bird Cage Obsession

So like everyone else, I have to have a birdcage in my life.

While searching around on the internet, i saw these lamps and thought... I can make that!

Seeing as how I already had a string of cafe lights that were not being used... I went with the one on the right. (plus it looks just a taaaaad bit easier to make).

A friend of mine just so happened to have a birdcage she wanted to get rid of *gasp... who would do such a thing* for free!

I decided to make my lamp more of a floor lamp. I had an old pedestal table sitting around that I couldn't find a use for. So, I put the cage on the table (which just so happened to be the perfect size) and gave it a good coat of vibrant purple spray paint.

I placed it in the hallway beneath my FOR LIKE EVER print (who doesn't have one of those by now). And I have to say... I think I did a pretty good job!!

REAL Vintage Decor

Everyone can appreciate a good vintage find. I suggest, instead of going out to buy some mass produced art work, dig through you family photos.

I found these of my grandparents from 1957!!

The were taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway right here in the North Carolina mountains. My grandparents were at the ripe old age of 23.

I'll be hitting up the local flea markets and yard sales for the perfect frames.

*TIP* When looking for used frames, pay attention more to the detail and not the color. You can always buy a gold ornate frame and green plain jane frame and spray paint them the same color for a cohesive look.

How much do we love the photo above?? Days like this make life worth living. ;)

A Tree of Life, Indeed...

…I mean… just imagine all the babies that would be made on a bed like this!!!

This is most definitely not something you're gonna find at pottery barn.
